What is a Precision Tune-Up?

A Precision Tune-Up for furnaces is a thorough, proactive maintenance service designed to ensure your heating system runs efficiently and safely. During a tune-up, a qualified technician here at American AC Heat Plumbing will inspect and clean key components such as the burner, heat exchanger, and blower motor. They’ll also check the system’s airflow, thermostat calibration, and overall performance to catch any potential issues before they become costly repairs. This regular maintenance not only helps prevent breakdowns but also improves energy efficiency, prolongs the life of the furnace, and ensures that your home stays warm and comfortable throughout the heating season.

It’s like having your furnace rejuvenated to Factory Fresh condition – all for $129!

Benefits of Furnace Tune-Ups

A furnace tune-up is an essential part of maintaining your heating system and ensuring it operates at its best. Here are some of the key benefits of regular furnace tune-ups:

  • Improved Energy Efficiency: Regular maintenance helps your furnace run more efficiently, leading to lower energy bills.

  • Prevents Costly Breakdowns: Tune-ups allow technicians to catch and fix minor issues before they escalate into expensive repairs.

  • Increased Reliability: A well-maintained furnace is less likely to break down, keeping your home consistently warm.

  • Better Indoor Air Quality: Cleaning filters and other components helps improve airflow, ensuring cleaner air in your home.

  • Extended Lifespan: Routine maintenance can help prolong the life of your furnace, delaying the need for costly replacements.

19-Pt. Furnace Precision Tune-Up & Safety Inspection

Our Trained American AC Heat Plumbing Technicians will perform a precision tune-up, professional cleaning, and safety inspection (that nearly takes 2 hours to perform) which includes the following 19-point procedures:

Perform a thorough test of the air flow duct system to ensure there are no carbon monoxide leaks, which can be dangerous to your health and safety.

Test the thermostat for proper operation, ensuring it responds correctly to temperature changes and commands. Calibrate it to ensure the temperature settings align with actual room temperature and check that it is level for accurate readings.

Inspect the area around the furnace for any combustible materials, such as paper, cloth, or cleaning supplies, that may pose a fire risk.

Test the ignition system to ensure it is functioning safely and properly.

Test the exhaust system to confirm that it is venting properly. A blocked or malfunctioning exhaust can cause dangerous gases to re-enter the home.

Inspect combustion air openings to ensure there is sufficient airflow for the furnace to operate efficiently. If combustion air is restricted, it can lead to poor furnace performance and increased risk of carbon monoxide buildup.

Replace the current air filter with a high-efficiency 1-inch filter to improve indoor air quality. A clean air filter helps prevent dust and debris from circulating through the system and improves overall furnace performance.

Test the safety and control circuits to ensure they are functioning correctly. This includes checking all relays, safety switches, and limit controls to make sure they are operating as they should, preventing any system malfunctions.

Clean and lubricate the blower motor, wheel, shaft, and housing to reduce wear and tear.

Clean and inspect the furnace burners to ensure they are free from dirt and debris. Dirty or clogged burners can reduce heating efficiency and pose a safety risk.

Measure the temperature rise across the furnace to ensure it is within the manufacturer’s specifications. An unusually high or low temperature rise can indicate a problem with airflow or the furnace’s internal components.

We’ll use a video camera to inspect the heat exchanger for dangerous cracks or signs of wear. Cracks in the heat exchanger can lead to the dangerous release of carbon monoxide into the home, so it is important to detect any issues early.

We’ll vacuum the interior of the furnace to remove dust, dirt, and debris that can build up over time.

Measure the amperage and voltage of the blower motor to ensure it is operating within the manufacturer’s specifications.

Inspect and tighten all electrical connections to ensure they are secure. Loose or corroded wiring can lead to electrical shorts, potentially causing system malfunctions or even fires.

Test for natural gas leaks inside and around the furnace area. A gas leak is a serious safety hazard and must be addressed immediately.

Inspect all accessible ductwork for air leaks or breakage. Leaky ducts can reduce heating efficiency by allowing warm air to escape before it reaches the intended rooms, leading to higher energy bills and uneven heating.

Examine safety hoses for cracks, wear, or damage. Over time, hoses can degrade, leading to leaks or system malfunctions.

Clean and wax the exterior of the furnace to restore its appearance and protect it from dust, dirt, and grime.
